Has any movie touched your life that you keep on coming back to it? Are the characters equally unforgettable? If this is the case, you can try to remember the male names and consider them for your baby son.
Appeal of male names based on movie characters
Male names, especially those of the protagonists, can represent the virtues shown by those movie characters. Unlike the names of movie stars, movie characters’ names are safer. You have seen the ending of the movie so you know how the character’s personality was developed. In the case of movie stars, their personality can still change for the worse. You do not want to associate your baby to someone who will possibly commit an unforgivable act in the future. Still, your baby boy can still have a taste of having a popular and trendy name.
Popular male names based on movie characters
Would you believe that parents are steering towards sci-fi movie characters’ names? Some of the popular male names from the world of sci-fi include Neo. Some are into vamps’ names such as Edward (Cullen) and Damon (Salvatore).
Choose male names from movies that reflect a virtue that you uphold. Make sure your baby knows the meaning of his name. Hopefully, he lives up to it.

Once upon a time, before the world knew what iPods are, there was a beautiful and kind fairy that lived in the forest of Brooke. But the fairy has nothing to do with this blog entry so we'll leave her in the forest and we'll just focus on the story of the good name which is Marcus.
Marcus is a Roman name that is possibly originated from Mars, the god of spring, fertility, growth in nature, and protector of herds of cattle.
William Shakespeare is fond of using this name because there were three pivotal characters in his plays named Marcus. We also have several important figures in world and political history born with the name. Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican-born U.S. black-nationalist leader who established the Universal Negro Improvement Association. Dubbed as the " Black Moses", he campaigned for an independent black economy and the "proud of being black" concept.
Marcus Junius Brutus, is a Roman politician who joined the Pompey's army against Julius Caesar's administration. He was also the leader of the plotters who murdered Caesar. Marcus Clarke, and English-born Australian writer known for his popular book series and novels like His Natural Life. Marcus Jakob Monrad is a Norwegian philosopher who proposed the idealistic interpretation of the Hegelianism.

"Starry, starry night, paint your palette blue and grey. Look out on a summer’s day, with eyes that know the darkness in my soul". This line is taken from the inspirational and heartwarming song "Vincent", popularized by Don McClean and revived by classical singer Josh Groban. This is actually written as a commemoration to the tragic and colorful life of the famous Post-Impressionists Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh.
I learned about him in my humanities subject during college, and whenever I hear the song, it always puts tears in my eyes. Anyway, based on a quick Internet search, the name Vincent is a Roman word "Vincentius" that means "conquer." Aside from Gogh, we have lots of famous people from different industries borne with the name. Vincent Massey was a statesman and the first to serve as governor-general of Canada. Meanwhile, Sir Vincent Tewson was a leader of the English trade union and rendered unparalleled service during the World War I. For the arts and literature area, we have Vincent Benét, an American poet and writer of renowned short stories such as the John Brown's Body. Vincent Price on the other hand is an American actor who became known for his superb talent in several London productions like Chicago and Victoria Regina.

If you're looking for a name that is not commonly used in the US, perhaps you should consult books and websites about names from other countries like Spain, Italy, and Germany. Among the three, I think Germany has a rich variety of names that doesn't only sound unique. These names are special as well. Let's take the name Ludwig as an example of a famous name from Germany.
The name is actually spelled as Hludwig, and is composed of the components hlud for fame and wig for warrior; therefore it means "famous warrior". The most popular bearer of this beautiful name is no other than the world famous composer and magnificent master, Ludwig Van Beethoven. Although he is incapable of hearing, Mr. Beethoven was able to compose over 200 songs, myriad orchestral works, and several choral pieces.
We also have Ludwig Witgenstein. He is the philosopher from Austria who gave numerous contributions to logic and the language of philosophy. The name is also famous in royal kingdoms because it was used by kings of Germany, emperors of Spain, rulers of Franks, Bavarian kings, and Roman leaders.
As for the Nobel prize, we have Ludwig Quidde. He is the German pacifist and historian who won the said award for his contribution for peace.

I have been dreaming of going to Italy ever since I learned that such a place with a very nice name exists. I first read about Italy when I was six-years old on a moth-eaten book called "The Land I Call Home" which is lying around the basement of our house. It was just a small book with an approximate of twelve pages in it with colored and clearly illustrated pictures perhaps to entice and prevent the kid to throw it in the waste bin. I was fascinated about Italy because as shown in the book, it's a place filled with huge pasta restaurants and during those times, only bolognese, lasagna, pizza and spaghetti are food that I want to eat aside from burger and chicken.
When I went to secondary school and my love for pizza started to wane, because I switched to salads; and I had a classmate named Arduino whose family recently came to San Francisco from Milan. We became good buddies since no one wants to play with a geeky kid which is me, and a boy who speaks poor English which is him; we study together, eat lunch together usually swapping my corned beef sandwich for his fettucini and walk home together. Being good friends, we sometimes borrow books and toys from each other. Rhere was even a time that he forgot to give me back my remote controlled car. As a mater of fact he wasn't able to return it anymore because they moved back to Milan after three months of wandering here in the U.S.
Arduino is an Italian name which is actually being used now to christen children born here in the States. It actually depicts a brave friend according to the quick Internet search that I made last night checking websites like Google and Ask Jeeves. I guess my friend isn't brave enough for not to return my toy car; and I also think that he's lucky because I'll be hunting him for my car as soon as I place my shoes on Milan.

William is notably a very popular name all over the world. From the German name Wihelm, it consists of Wil which means will or desire and Helm which means protection. There are actually a bunch of famous and very influential men named William.
One of them is playwright and literary icon William Shakespeare. Do we need to debate on this? Absolutely not. The writer of the immortal play Romeo and Juliet will speak for himself. There's also the legendary Swiss patriot William Tell whose story resulted to the creation of the Everlasting league. Another is King William I of England, among the greatest of English monarchs and an important figure of great European history.
We also have William Blake who exerted effort on the English literary romanticism. And who would dare say he doesn't know the Royal heartthrob Prince William, or I would have him arrested by the Royal guards. If you really don't know him, pity you, but he is the son of Prince Charles and the late Princess of Wales, Princess Diana. There's another guy, though he's not influential but he is bloody famous for his, uhm, unbreakable confidence. William Hung, a rejected contender of American Idol who gained fame and became a recording artist with his revival of Ricky Martin's "She bangs". I told you, William is such a wickedly popular name, actually.

Albert is as popular as a first name and as a last name. It is of German origin, and when translated it means "fair", "bright," or "famous." Albert was also a famous name in France in the old days, and was revived in the 19th century in honor of Queen Victoria's consort. Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Prine Albert is known for lending his support to the application of the sciences for the modern industrial period. Queen Victoria's children and grandchildren carried this name to many of Europe's royal families. However, when Queen Victoria's eldest son ascended the throne, his first order as the king was to drop the name Albert.
There is one individual that lived up to the name's meaning, the famous physicist who formulated the theory of relativity - Albert Einstein. Einstein's name and legacy is held in the highest regard by today's culture. Also, his name is synonymous to genius and intellect. Although Einstein wasn't always as smart as people would have been led to believe.
When he was young, his grades were below average. He was also known as a slow learner. Many other famous people share this name: the philosopher Albert Camus, and the United States' former vice president Al Gore.

Nobody would dispute that the whole world knows Pope John Paul II. He was a great man himself just like his friend Mother Teresa whom he beatified. His untiring love, care, affection, sacrifice, and missions amazed and took the world. He was a citizen of the world, too. Pope John Paul II shaped the ever-changing world history.
When he became pope, he took the name John Paul II after his predecessor John Paul I. The name Paul, according to some great theologians and saints, means reception of God's graces, moved by God, and in general conversion. Such meanings were manifested all throughout the life of Pope John Paul II. He was deeply moved by God, received graces from Him, and converted a lot of people to believe in the Almighty God.
His reign as a pope was triggered with a countless crises and controversies. Some controversies include alleged gay men in the clergy, his strong objection to ordaining women to become priestess, and his counter attacks on issues like AIDS, homosexuality, and abortion among others. But, the great pope stood by his faith until he surrendered his soul to His Creator due to failing health.

I'm sure very few Germans would be willing to name their child Adolf. This name was tainted with infamy because of the reputation of one of the most notorious men to have ever lived in world history, Adolf Hitler. Whenever the name Adolf is mentioned, I always see a man with a pressed hair and a Charlie Chaplin-like mustache. As everyone already knows, Adolf Hitler is the man responsible for the death of millions of Jews in one of history's most disastrous events, the Holocaust. The name Adolf has a beautiful and positive meaning, really; it means " noble, magestic wolf" in German.
Even though this name may have negative connotations because of Hitler, the name Adolf is also associated with religion. In the 13th Century there lived a German Saint named Adolf. He became a Canon in Cologne and in 1216 he became the bishop of Osnabruck. Saint Adolphus of Osnabruck was known to many for being active in numerous charity activities.
When he was appointed as Canon of Cologne, he resigned because he wanted to become a monk at the Cistercian monastery. I guess the name Adolf has a somewhat bipolar nature; infamous for mass murder and popular for being charitable.

From George Washington to George Bush, the name George has been around for quite awhile now. The name George seems to be a favorite in the presidential position. It's an English name, which means "farmer", but in the political scene, Georges' have been very famous and historical. Take George Bush, there had been two George Bush presidents, the one is the current US president, and then there's the other George, George Washington, he had been the first president of the United States. Now if that's not historical enough, what is?
