If you think your precious baby boy is destined for something great, then why not use one of today's greatest political leaders as inspiration for his name? The following are just some of the many great ideas when naming your baby boy:
Names and meanings: Barack
In Hebrew, Barack means blessing. Barack is also the name of America's first-ever African-American president. If you think your son has a great future as someone who'll break grounds and make a name for himself, Barack is always a good choice as a name.
Names and meanings: Charles
In Old German, Charles means free man. This is also the name of England's next heir to the throne Prince Charles, famed author Charles Dickens, and naturalist Charles Darwin. If you think your son will follow Darwin's footsteps as a famed scientist and naturalist, then Charles is a good name.
Other good suggestions when naming your son are Abdullah and Dmitri. Abdullah is Arabic in origin and it mean's the servant of Allah. This is also the name of Jordan's current king. This name is perfect for someone who is devoted to religion and to his god. In Greek, the name Dmitri means earth lover. Dimitri is also the name of Russia's current president. For future earth and nature lovers who are destined to lead the world in the fight against earth's destruction, Dmitri is the perfect name for them. When deciding a name for your son, always think of something that'll make him different from the rest, and make him feel proud of who he is.

Are you an avid reader of comics or graphic novels? If so, it would not be a surprise if you are drawn towards baby boy names based on comic book characters.
Appeal of baby boy names based on comic book characters
There are several baby boy names out there. Names can change spellings to form new ones. They can also be borrowed from nature, values, and so on. If parents want their baby to have the same virtues as their favorite superhero or the same wit as their favorite funny character, they may borrow those characters’ names.

If you are looking up names for your future baby son, you may want to consider celebrity names. While it is good to check out traditional baby books and use names that have been passed on from generation to generation, celebrity names for baby boys may do the trick.
Appeal of celebrity names for baby boys
Do you want your son to have a unique but tested name? Celebrity names are unique because actors are going for uncommon or even never-been-used names for their babies. They are tested because they have been given automatic and certified appeal because somebody famous has used them. Think of Ashlee Simpson’s little Bronx or the Beckham’s brood: Romeo, Cruz, and Brooklyn.
Choosing a celebrity name for your boy
Would you give your baby boy a celebrity name? Your baby will sure be associated with somebody famous. The name will be appealing and trendy. Still, pick one that will not make him the butt of jokes when he grows up.
Celebrity names may be trendy but if the celebrity namesake goes the wayward path, your baby boy may be associated with notoriety.

We all know that the persona of Jacob was more Godly and studious than Esau because Esau was more of a sinner icon. Many moms like to name their first born son as Jacob. The common reason of mothers is they want their son to adapt Jacob's personality. This name is biblical and many parents get names from the Bible for their son to grow up as a good child.
Monday, May 7. 2007
Jacob is of Hebrew origin, "Yaʿaqov," that means "heel". Do you know why? Because when Rebeccah was giving birth, Jacob was holding the heel of Esau. The two are twins born to Issac and Rebeccah. Jacob was more successful than Esau since the latter was drowned in cardinal sins like murder, idolatry, and adultery. On the other hand, Jacob's children divided Israel into 12 tribes. Because of Jacob's roots in Israel, we all expect the entire land, as a Holy land, to be the center of piece on Earth, don't we?
Sunday, May 6. 2007
Jacob came from Isaac, son of Abraham. This holy family reigned in Israel for many years. Aside from that, there are many propehecies about Israel that make us believe it's a sacred place. However, current situations don't say the same thing. In the recent bombing of Israel on Lebanon, it has killed several children. These people, Israeli, are said to be the descendants of Jacob who was tasked to spread peace on Earth. But, what happened to most of the Lebanese children now? Cold and dead.

Our new neighbor, Emilio, is a Spanish-American and a music teacher. My kids love him because he teaches them piano lessons for free. My dad likes him because he gives him rolls of tobacco for free. Emilio has a long, crooked nose, wrinkled face, and soft blue eyes. The kids consider him as their grandpa, and parents like me look up to him as our second father. If I'm not mistaken, his family is staying in Spain for good, but he still visits them during holidays.
Saturday, April 28. 2007
Emilio is derived from another Portuguese and Spanish name which is Emil. It is actually Aemilius or aemilus in Latin that means "rival". There are so many Emilios in the world that gave significant contributions to history, arts, science, and fashion. Emilio Segre is an Italian-born American physicist who won the Nobel Prize in physics on 1959 with his partner Owen Chamberlain for the discovery of the antiproton. Emilio Pucci is a member of the Italian Parliament and a fashion designer.

Emilio Aguinaldo is a Filipino leader and general who fought Spain and the United States for the independence of the Philippines, which was given to the country after the World War II. Emilio Greco is an Italian sculptor whose figurative works are mainly female nudes and portraits made from marble and bronze. Emilio Cecchi is a famous Italian critic and essayist who introduced noted English and American writers to Italian readers.

"Dad, this is heavy, really. Is this wine?" I carried the box in my arms and felt that the box's base was wet. I touched the liquid and tasted it -- it's both sour and bitter. "That's a Neapolitan Mastiff. That's Rupert!" Dad snapped back, with a malicious grin plastered on his face. "So where did you buy this Rupert brandy thing?" I asked again, curious about my dad's alcoholism. Dad's face turned brick red, then he said, "That's not wine, son. Rupert's a dog!"
Wednesday, April 25. 2007
Who on earth would give a dog that royal name! Yeah, Rupert is a famous name given to boys born to a royal family. It is actually the German version of the name Robert which means "bright fame". But our new dog isn't exactly bright. Have you seen George Bush's face when he learned about Gore's movie? That's what our dog looks like. He always wears that I'm-nobody's-pet facial expression. Talk about moody dogs! My dad still finds him cute though.
Tuesday, April 24. 2007
Aside from our dog, there are many popular others borne with that good name. Gordon Rupert Dickson is a world-renowned writer of science fiction novels like Tactics of Mistake, and Soldier, Ask Not. Keith Rupert Murdoch is an Australian-born newspaper publisher and founder of the News Corporation, Ltd. Rupert Everett Billingham is an American immunologist and transplant researcher who helped conduct an experiment on skin grafting to treat animals. We also have Rupert Grint, the young star of Harry Potter films.

Seeing my sister, Casey, rummaging a website filled with pictures of Brian McKnight, I commented, "He sure is handsome. But does your husband know you're fancying a recording artist?"
"I don't fancy him," she mumbled, embarrassed by her interest in a singer. "I'm just reading about him. I'm planning to give my son the name Brian instead of Eric".
I came nearer and squinted at the screen. "Oh, are you sure?" I said, mocking her. "So when did you learn to read French?"
Casey sighed.
The name Brian doesn't sound bad at all. I made a quick Internet search about the name and the result told me that it is derived from the Celtic word "bre" which means hill, noble, or high. Brian McKnight is a Black singer who popularized the hits like "One Last Cry" and "Back At One". Aside from him, we have so many Brians who excelled in the field of leadership and literature. Brian Boru was the king of Munster in Ireland who defeated the Vikings, but was slain during the battle. Brian Moore was a Canadian novelist who wrote the novel-turned-blockbuster-film "The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne". Brian Wilson Aldiss is a great English science fiction author who created the bestsellers, "The Bright Fount Diaries" and "Non-Stop".

Joel, our new neighbor, is one-hell-of-a-moron. He listens to classical music, he digs plants, he loves watching Discovery Channel, and worst, he likes computers. Some people in our neighborhood find him nice. Yeah he is, as long as he stops wearing his stupid, brown, furry vest and he stops bragging about his rusting Toshiba portable laptop.
I think his mother didn't really like him. No mother would name their kids Joel, not unless they're mental. The name came from the good book, and it means "Yahweh is God". But if you'll look at his face closely, you'll find no hint that God wanted him alive. I will help him look normal by shutting his head in the oven, and burning it to ashes. There, he'll look more adorable, and his plants will love him more.
I've got nothing against other Joels. In fact, I've found some of them in the web who aren't as stupid as my neighbor. Joel McCrea is an American actor who appeared in films like "The Silver Horde" and "Sullivan's Travels, and "The Palm Beach Story". Joel Barlow is an American poet and writer who was known due to his immortal pieces like "The Hasty Pudding" and "Vision of Colombus".

Our new next-door neighbor, Allan, comes from a family of doctors. But this guy is quite odd because instead of dealing with breast cancer patients just like his mom, and tooth decays like his dad, he chose to deal with cancers and tooth decays of tigers and pythons. Yes, he is a veterinarian, bless him. We like Allan because he loves our kids as much as he loves his big cats and scaly reptiles. However, we can't help but get mad at him sometimes because he lets his pets play with our kids.
The name Allan has no definite meaning. English people said that it means either tiny rock or handsome. Anyway, aside from our village vet/zoologist, there are many Allans in the world that were able to give valuable contributions to their respective fields. Allan Cunningham is a Scottish poet and an honorary member of the brilliant circle of writers who worked for the London Magazine in 1820s. Philosopher and writer Allan David Bloom amazed readers with his bestseller, The Closing of the American Mind: How Higher Education Has Failed Democracy and Impoverished the Souls of Today's Students. Allan Nevins is considered as the best American historian and educator due to his books about the American Civil War and various biographies of political figures.

Sebastian is a screwball lobster from the stupid film "The Little Mermaid. I don't know where Walt Disney got the lousy idea of having a creature like that to entertain kids. Well, he's not entirely funny, you know. He annoys me so much that I want to take his shell off and feed him to my ginger cat. Oh, by the way, I also love to blast his mermaid friend's tail off and feed her to my cat as well. Let's see if they can still sing that excruciating" Under the Sea" song.
The name Sebastian is derived from the name Sebastianus that means "from Sebaste". It's a good thing that not all guys born with the name knew Little Mermaid by heart, or else I have to shut their heads in the oven. There are many Sebastians in the world. All of them gave valuable contributions to their respective fields.
Sebastian Cabot is an English navigator who served in England as the governor of the Merchant Adventurers. Sebastian Newbold Coe is a Briton who snagged four Olympic medals and create eight world records in middle-distance running. Sebastian Fabian Klonowic is a poet whose work are purely Polish and Latin. I've never read any of his poems. Why? Because I don't understand them, I'm not from Poland anyway.

A name is a person's identity and at the same time, the cause of family feud. We have a new member in the family. You see, my sister recently got herself pregnant. Needless to say, we now have a new baby to look after. There's no worry about his future because I know we can afford to raise another crime-abiding citizen. But the dilemma here is we can't decide for the kid's name.
My mom suggested that we should baptize the kid Eric, like her favorite character, Magneto (Erik Magnus Lehnsherr) of X-Men. Forgive me, but my mom really got this nasty sense of humor. As you can see, we got so many Erics in history. We got Eric Ambler, a British author of crime novels; Eric Partridge an English lexicographer; Eric Williams, prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago; and Eric Sevareid, a journalist and writer for Columbia Broadcasting System.
Considering this fact, I made a quick Internet search to look for the meaning of the controversial name. According to Google, it's a name from the Old Norse that means "ever ruler". My sister who should be the responsible for deciding on the baby's name told us to stop it with the maddening confusion. According to her, she'll just name the kid Ericsson because that's the brand of her mobile phone.

I was reading some of my nonsense entries in this blog when I noticed that I've given you several names of the finest Hollywood actors who earned themselves unshared Oscar awards. Yeah, some of their performances are so lousy I can't believe they've managed to snag the golden trophy. Anyway, since I've already mentioned Oscar, I made a rigid Internet search last night to check what the name means and to see if we can find reasons why we should delete it from our name list.
Oscar originated from the combination of the Gaelic words, "os" which means deer and "cara" which means lover, in short: deer lover. No wonder, my neighbor's name is Oscar. His parents are zoo keepers, oh deer, I mean dear! Oscar is not an ideal name for kids who'll grew up as hunters because they'll be an embarrassment to their name and the nature.
There are Oscars who made it big in different industries. Take for example, the humorous writer Oscar Wilde. He wrote comedies such as The Importance of being Earnest, The Ideal Husband, and The Picture of Dorian Gray. On the other hand, Oscar McKinley Charleston is considered as America's best all-around baseball player in history. Lastly, Oscar Solomon Straus is a great Jewish Cabinet member of the US government and adviser to President Woodrow Wilson.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is definitely among the most sought-after Hollywood finest actors in the country. He was known as the Austrian Oak in the body-building universe where he first became famous before he went to make waves in Hollywood. He is very much famous for his line, "I'll be back." Maybe, it just wasn't the line he is famous for. I am pretty definite that someone out there will agree with me when I say that the actor's voice is somewhat garbled. Sometimes, I can't help but compare Arnold with Sly Stallone. There are times that I cannot understand a thing that they are saying. Another thing about dear old Arnold, kids know him as the "Terminator-Governor", simply because Terminator was his biggest blockbuster hit, and as of present time, he is the governor of California who wants to terminate illegal immigrants out of the U.S. But aside from all these bits and pieces, do you know that his first name means power of the eagle?
I know some idiots don't care, but I care, because firstly I'm no idiot and secondly I have an old buddy whose name is Arnold and looks like a monkey-eating eagle. Aside from gov, we got interesting people borne with the name. Matthew Arnold is a social critic and poet who wrote several literary masterpieces like The Scholar Gipsy and Thyrsis, and a searching analysis about the Victorian society.
Let's skip to other Arnies. Now, let me introduce Arnold Geulincx, a logician who established the philosophical doctrine known as occasionalism derived from the ideologies of Rene Descartes. Arnold Brecht is a prominent scientist who made several contributions in clarifying some scientific facts. Sir Arnold Edward Trevor Bax is a well-known British composer whose work depicts the neoromantic music trend during World Wars I and II. Come to think of it. These Arnolds do have some sort of power in them. They may not be as powerful as the eagles, but still powerful in more ways than one.

A Beautiful Mind is one of those tearjerking biopic I've seen that reaped several awards and recognitions. It's about the story of John Forbes Nash Jr., a math genius who was diagnosed with the mental disorder, schizophrenia. His disease almost weakened his physical structure, but his mind and his spirit remains firm. Russell Crowe portrayed the role of Nash, and I think this is his best performance ever. This means that I found it better than Gladiator and Cinderella Man. But, either way, Russell Crowe is still an award winning actor and his name is cute.
Russell is a French name that means, "little red one". But based on a quick Internet search, people borne with the name either in their first or last, gave gigantic contribution to their respective fields. John Russell also known as 1st Earl Russell is a British politician and prime minister who advocated for free trade and the board for public health. Russell Wayne Baker, an American newspaper columnist and political satirist who used his mixed humor in discussing the different social and political issues of the country. Russell Conwell Hoban is an American children's writer of myth, fantasy, and adventure. His first book was called, What Does It Do and How Does It Work, and his first novel is The Mouse and His Child.

Edward Scissorhands is among the greatest stories ever written and shown in the big screen. It's the 1990s movie about a "guy" who has scissors for hands, hence the title. The movie was created by Tim Burton, and starred by no less than Johnny Depp as Edward. If I'm not mistaken, Depp always plays the lead role in Burton's masterpieces like The Corpse's Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Anyway, I'm no longer interested with the movie because I've seen it dozens of time since I was a kid. So, let's just focus on the character's first name and check out its meaning. Based on quick Internet search, the name came from the Ancient English words "ead" which means blessed, and "weard" which means guard; therefore the Edward is for "blessed guard". There are so many famous Edwards in the world and incidentally, most of them were writers.
Edward William Bok, is an energetic American editor in the aspect of journalism for women. His paper, Ladies' Home Journal helped change the old American culture about its views on women's rights. Philip Edward Thomas is an English celebrated poet who wrote Adlestrop, Celandine, and The Manor Farm. Edward Franklin Albee belongs to the greatest dramatists and theatrical producer of America who created the famous classic, " Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?".

Martin is a kind of bird swallow that belongs to the family Hirundinidae, and is known in America as the purple swallow. But aside from being a flying animal, Martin is also the finest names given to child. But what's interesting with this name is that it is used as a first name as well as last name.
If we'll check on our history books, newspapers, encyclopedia, Xbox game consoles, and even the Internet, we'll discover that we've got lots of people borne with the name. The name was based on the Roman Martinus, that is derived from the Roman God Mars. Surprisingly, it is the Germans who commonly use this name for their children. Martin Buber is a renowned biblical translator and German religious philosopher. According to his ideas, the Bible is derived from God's encounter with human beings. Martin Schongauer is a great German painter and engraver whose subject represents the ancient Gothic spirit.
Martin Heidegger is another German philosopher who was classified as the world's leading atheistic existentialist. His work strongly influenced the ideologies of hermeneutics, post-structuralism, and other existentialists like Jean-Paul-Sartre. As for the music scene, we have the sexy Latin singer Ricky Martin and the bluegrass guitarist Jimmy Martin.
