Peter Patter

Peter is such a pleasant male name. If ever I'll have the chance to change my name, I'll choose Peter. The name is easy to pronounce, spell and remember. As a matter of fact, it ranked top 143d in United States' Top 1000 Male Name list. From the Greek name "Petros", Peter actually means stone or rock. The name was first used in the Bible when Jesus Christ gave the name to apostle Simon. There are many famous and powerful people as well as characters possessing that name. King Peter Urseolo for instance, the Hungarian monarch who ruled the place from 1038-1046. The czars of Russia from 1682-1762 were borne with the same name. There's Pope Peter of the Catholic church.

Even the world renowned literary genius William Shakespeare used the name for some of his characters in his masterpieces namely, Taming the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and King John. Oscar award winners are also borne with the name. They are Sir Peter Ustinov, who won two Best Supporting Actor awards for Spartacus (1960) and Topkapi (1964). Peter Finch as the homosexual doctor for Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971).

And of course, my beloved director, Peter Jackson who won Best Director for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in 2003. He was also the director of the blockbuster hit Kingkong and was reported to direct the movie version of the PC and Xbox game, Halo. Who would forget the fictional boy who never grew up and Captain Hook's mortal enemy, Peter Pan? By the way, he's also one of the greatest Peter in history. But the reason why I love Peter is because of our friendly neighborhood hero, Spiderman a.k.a. Peter Parker. So say that Peter's a lousy name and I'll hang you in a fifty-feet high building with my web.
